Hello Everyone!
My new website is almost ready…

As I travel along what Leonard Cohen once called “the foothills of old age,” I thought it would be fun for me, and hopefully interesting for you, to curate a bunch of bits and pieces of my 50+ year career as a cantor, songwriter, musician and occasional troublemaker. 

It has been a wild ride! Even before Dan Freelander and I were known as Kol B’Seder, we had already composed a bunch of Hebrew songs, among them “Modeh Ani,” “Lo Alecha,” and “Shalom Rav”: songs that, along with those from Debbie Friedman, Craig Taubman and others, shook the dust off synagogue music of the 1970s and 80s, leading to a new genre dubbed Contemporary Jewish Music, or as some called it, “American Nusach.”

Kol B’Seder’s exploits are well documented on our website, and you can listen to all our music for free at Bandcamp, (though we would love it if you purchase a download or two!)

Here, however, I hope to reward your time with recordings, videos, writings, musical scores and random artifacts that are unavailable elsewhere. Think of it as a document of the past half-century of American Jewish music culture as seen through the eyes of a guitar-picking, folk-singing kid from New York City.
